Police on patrol after shots are fired in Norris Green

Police have stepped up patrols in north Liverpool after shots were fired in the Norris Green area.

Officers were called to Scargreen Avenue after reports that people riding two motorbikes were seen firing a gun near Utting Avenue East.

The bikes are thought to have been ridden off towards Croxteth Park.

No-one was injured but police said a group of youths on the corner of Scargreen Avenue and Utting Avenue ran off after the shots were fired.

Two youths have been arrested and are being questioned by police.

Hoods up

Officers have sealed off the junction of Scargreen Avenue and Utting Avenue East while forensic officers examine the scene.

Police will be speaking to local residents and businesses and have said patrols will be stepped up in the area.

The bikes were mainly white with red markings on. Each had a rider and a passenger who are all described as white males aged between 16 and 18 years old.

They were wearing dark-coloured tracksuits with their hoods up.
