Man, 20, shot in leg in Liverpool

A 20-year-old man has been shot in the leg in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police were notified of the shooting after the victim arrived at hospital on Thursday night with a gunshot wound to his lower leg.

The shooting is believed to have happened in the West Derby area although police are yet to identify the exact scene.

Police said the man is currently in a stable condition in hospital. No-one else was injured during the incident.

"At this early stage of the investigation, the full circumstances surrounding the shooting have yet to be established and the motive is unclear," said a police spokesman.

Patrols have been increased in the West Derby area.
