A 64-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a woman found dead in Liverpool five years ago.

The body of Anne Marie Foy was found dumped in a wooded area off Crown Street, near Royal Liverpool Hospital, on 15 September, 2005.

The 46-year-old, who had been working as a prostitute at the time, was beaten and strangled.

Merseyside Police said the arrested man was from the Wavertree area.

Two months ago, Det Supt Ian Kemble made a fresh appeal for information about Ms Foy's murder.

Ms Foy, a grandmother, was last seen at her home about 0400 BST on 14 September, 2005.

Her partially-clothed body was found in bushes on Crown Street near a Liverpool University car park the following day.
