Liverpool airport flights delayed by fog

Air passengers are facing disruption at Liverpool John Lennon Airport after freezing fog blanketed the area.

A number of flights have been delayed or cancelled because of the fog, which hit the airport on Sunday afternoon.

Incoming flights were diverted to other airports, which means aircraft have not been available for outbound services on Monday morning.

Passengers are advised to contact their airline and check their flight's status before travelling to the airport.

A spokeswoman said three flights had been cancelled before 0900 GMT, but stressed that the airport remained open.
