Second arrest after man shot in chest on Merseyside

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to murder a 23-year-old man who was shot in the chest on Merseyside.

Officers were alerted by hospital staff after the victim was admitted with a chest wound on Thursday night.

Police believe the shooting happened somewhere in the Kirkby area but are still unsure of the location.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on Sunday and remains in custody. Another man, aged 52, has been bailed.

The victim, who is believed to be from the Anfield area, is currently being treated and his condition is described as stable.
