Woman's body found by side of M62 in Huyton

A woman's body has been found at the side of the M62 motorway on Merseyside.

The victim, believed to be in her 20s, was discovered by police officers near Huyton at about 0640 GMT.

Her death is being treated as unexplained, a police spokeswoman said.

One lane of the motorway has been closed between junctions four and five while investigations take place.

Merseyside Police is warning of delays on the eastbound carriageway.

Motorists are still advised to avoid the area if possible. The westbound carriageway is fully open but traffic is slow, police said.
