Man injured in Warrington scaffolding crash

A man has been taken to hospital after the car he was driving hit scaffolding in Warrington town centre.

A female passenger was also taken to hospital from the scene of the crash on Mersey Street at about 1215 GMT.

A helicopter ambulance was called but the casualties were taken to hospital by road because the crash was near Warrington Hospital.

Mersey Street was closed while the scaffolding was made safe. Any witnesses are asked to come forward.
