Police officer charged over fight at Formby pub

A Merseyside police officer has been charged in connection with a fight at a pub after which a man died.

Christopher Shackleton, 42, died from a stroke after the disturbance at the Freshfield Hotel on Massams Lane, Formby, on 24 July.

Andrew Neville Jackson, 27, from Formby has been charged with assault and is due to appear before Preston Magistrates' Court on 29 December.

Police said the officer, who was off-duty at the time, remains suspended.
