A 39-year-old man has been killed at a waste plant in Liverpool.
The emergency services were called to Gaskells Waste Services in Foster Street, Kirkdale at about 1100 GMT, after reports a man had been injured.
The man, who is from the city, was taken to hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arriving, a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said.
Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have started an investigation.
A spokesperson for Gaskells Waste Services said: "We are deeply shocked and upset at what has happened.
"Whilst this is an isolated incident in more than 19 years of trading, we are only thinking about the family of the bereaved at this moment in time."
