A 39-year-old man killed at a waste plant in Liverpool has been identified as Zbigniew Galka, who was originally from Katowice in Poland.

A post mortem examination on Mr Galka revealed that he died because of haemorrhaging, shock and severe traumatic injury to both legs.

Mr Galka, who lived in Anfield, was injured while working at Gaskells Waste Services plant in Foster Street.

Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are investigating.
