Bomb disposal experts are examining a number of devices found on waste ground in Cheshire after a man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
The 52-year-old was arrested in Warrington town centre on Sunday.
Police then went to waste ground on Marsh House Lane at about 1815 GMT, to a report of a bag containing possible incendiary devices.
The force said the threats related to named individuals known to the man and did not involve the public.
Marsh House Lane was sealed off on Sunday night while an army bomb disposal team made the area safe.
The man is being questioned on suspicion of making threats kill and threats to commit damage.
Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
