Firefighters rescue trapped crane operator in Liverpool

A man was rescued by firefighters after the crane he was operating toppled over, trapping him inside, at Seaforth Docks in Liverpool.

Hazardous area response teams were also called to help free the man from the cab of the 60-tonne crane.

The incident took place at 0900 BST at the Royal Seaforth Container Terminal.

The crane operator suffered head injuries, which were not serious, and was taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Aintree.

A health and safety investigation has been launched.

The crane involved in the incident was a straddle carrier typically used to lift containers.
