Most train services on Merseyrail's Northern Line have resumed after being suspended for an hour and 20 minutes in rush hour.

The company said the trains were stopped due to a power surge at an electricity sub-station, causing a problem with the supply.

Services from Liverpool Central to Hunts Cross remain suspended.

Merseyrail warned passengers to expect disruption as the service got back up and running.
