Homemade stun-guns found in police raid on Southport house

A man was arrested after two homemade stun-guns, a handgun, flares and chemicals were found in a raid on a house in Southport.

The man aged 51 was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled drug at the house on Liverpool Road.

The Army, fire service and police teams took part in the raid and removed chemicals for laboratory testing.

The raid followed investigations by detectives, said police.

Det Insp Rob Hill said: "The use of firearms blights our communities and puts law-abiding people at risk.

"Merseyside Police is fully committed to pursuing those involved in serious organised crime and will act on all information provided."
