A community festival has been held in memory of murdered Liverpool teenager Joseph Lappin.

The 16-year-old army cadet from Old Swan was stabbed outside a youth club in Everton in October 2008.

The event, which was held at Doric Park, Old Swan, raised money for a foundation set up in his name.

Joseph's mother, Toni, said: "This was the fifth festival held in memory of Joseph, and each year the event has gone from strength to strength."

Joseph was visiting the Shrewsbury House youth club with friends to watch a band practice when he was attacked by a gang of 10 youths and men.

James Moore, 17, was jailed for a minimum of 17 years after admitting his murder while nine others were jailed after admitting conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

The Joseph Lappin Foundation provides small grants to help local young people.
