Men stabbed over couple's row in Liverpool shop

Two men were stabbed after one tried to intervene in a row between a couple in a Liverpool off-licence, police said.

The 30-year-old man who intervened received minor injuries and a 54-year-old man who came to his aid suffered serious stab wounds to his chest.

The attacks happened after an argument at the Vogan off-licence, Park Road, Toxteth, at 00:30 BST on Sunday.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault.

The 54-year-old victim is receiving hospital treatment for serious injuries and the 30-year-old victim is recovering at home.
