The Passport Office in Liverpool was closed after staff reported a suspicious package to police.

Merseyside Police said they were called to Old Hall Street at 17:10 BST and the road was shut.

The force said initial reports suggested the envelope contained white powder, but specialist officers found "no noxious substances present".

A member of staff suffering from "mild irritation" to the skin was treated by medics.
