Man found dead on M62 in Merseyside after six-car crash

A man has been found dead on the M62 in Merseyside following a crash involving six vehicles in the early hours.

The crash, between junctions five and six of the eastbound carriageway at Tarbock Island, was reported to the emergency services at about 04:20 BST.

A body was found on the carriageway. Merseyside Police said the death is being treated as "unexplained".

One of the car drivers has been taken to hospital with a minor injury and police have appealed for witnesses.

Road closures are currently in place between junctions five and six of the M62 eastbound, and on Whitehall Lane to the junction of Tarbock Road.
