A 65-year-old man arrested following an explosion which resulted in 100 people being evacuated from their homes will not face charges.

Two people were seriously hurt and 31 injured in a suspected gas blast at New Ferry, Wirral, on 25 March.

The man, from Cheshire, was arrested in May on suspicion of conspiring to commit arson with intent or recklessness and a fraud offence.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said he is "no longer under investigation".

Police are still investigating a 62-year-old man from North Wales and a man, aged 55, from Wirral.
