A historic Norfolk town has been sealed off following an armed raid at a jewellers.

Police were called to the High Street in Holt shortly before 1400 BST when three men raided the shop carrying weapons but not firearms, police said.

The men then made off in a vehicle but is not clear whether anything had been taken, a force spokesman added.

One man received medical treatment but it was not known if he was a member of staff at the jewellers.

"This investigation is still in its early stages and further enquiries are being made to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident," the spokesman said.

Station Road has been closed in both directions as police continue their investigations.
