Council warning over dog fouling in Norfolk resort

A Norfolk council has issued a warning to dog owners over animals fouling in public areas, saying it prosecuted 15 people for the offence in 2010.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council said it introduced the crackdown because of the hazard to young children.

Jim Shrimplin, cabinet member for environment, said: "There's strong public feeling about dog fouling.

"It is not only anti-social but could be potentially hazardous, especially to young children."

"The council takes the problem very seriously and will prosecute if we get relevant information about offenders."
