No IPCC inquiry into Norfolk animal shelter killing

A police watchdog has decided not to investigate the death of a 59-year-old man shot dead at an animal shelter.

John Loveday's body was found at Botanybay Farm, Shortthorn Road, at Stratton Strawless, Norfolk, on Sunday.

Catherine Hodges, of Buxton Road, Horstead, near Norwich, has been charged with his murder.

Norfolk Police referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) but the watchdog has decided not to investigate the case.

An IPCC spokesman said: "The IPCC has now considered a referral from Norfolk Constabulary concerning the death of John Loveday in Stratton Strawless on 12 June.

"After assessment we have decided we are satisfied this matter can continue to be dealt with by Norfolk Police and there is no requirement for an IPCC investigation."

Ms Hodges appeared before Norwich magistrates on Wednesday and was remanded in custody until 29 June.
