Norfolk Police warning over fake cash scam in Norwich

People in Norwich are being warned by police to be on their guard against a doorstep money-swap scam.

It follows two incidents in the west of the city in which elderly residents were conned into giving change for a fake £20 note.

Incidents have been reported on Wednesday in Waddington Court and last Friday in Duoro Place.

Police are warning residents to be vigilant when dealing with anyone who calls asking for change.

Det Con Colin Aris, of Norfolk Police's Operation Radar, said: "In both cases the suspect has targeted vulnerable elderly residents and the fake £20 notes exchanged are of very poor quality."

The suspect in both cases is described as young and of average build with short hair.

Anyone who may have witnessed either incident or has information about the suspect is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
