A man who died following an incident outside a Norfolk pub in the early hours of New Year's Day was a "treasured son, brother, uncle and friend", his family have said.

Lee Goldsmith, 23, of Toft Monks, died in hospital after police and paramedics were called to a disturbance near the village's White Lion pub.

Two men, aged 38 and 45, were arrested in connection with the incident.

One of the arrested men is a Norfolk Police officer, who was off-duty.

In a statement released through police, Mr Goldsmith's family said: "Mr and Mrs Goldsmith are devastated following the loss of our youngest son, Lee.

"Lee was a treasured son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him."

The matter has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

The police officer has been suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry.
