A JCB digger was used by thieves who tried to remove a cash machine from a supermarket, Norfolk Police has said.

The incident took place at about 01:15 BST at the Tesco Express store in Fakenham Road, Taverham.

Officers said they believed the digger had been stolen from nearby. The offenders fled in two vehicles on the A1067 towards Attlebridge.

Police are still investigating and have not yet been able to say whether anything was stolen during the raid.

They are appealing for witnesses.
