An ex-champion boxer and a 22-year-old man from Norfolk have appeared in court accused of conspiring to supply drugs.

Herbie Hide, 41, of Bawburgh, and Ben Sharman, of Poringland, are accused of agreeing to supply £400 of cocaine to a newspaper journalist.

The offence is alleged to have been committed between 29 January and 2 February this year.

Neither man entered a plea when they appeared at Norwich Crown Court and the case was adjourned until 11 July.

Mr Sharman's barrister, Claire Matthews, had requested more time for her client to consider his case and this was agreed.

Mr Sharman was remanded in custody while Mr Hide was released on unconditional bail.

Mr Hide held the World Boxing Organisation version of the heavyweight title twice.
