North Norfolk lifeboat crew find woman's body on beach

A woman's body has been found in north Norfolk after boat trippers on their way to see seals reported seeing "something suspicious" on a beach.

Lifeboat crews from Wells-next-the-Sea were alerted just after 15:00 GMT on Wednesday.

The inshore lifeboat was launched and the crew said they found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 60s, near Blakeney Point.

The body has been recovered but police are yet to confirm the identity.

"Formal identification is yet to take place but the woman is believed to be missing person Margaret Read last seen in Norwich on Friday 21 February," a police spokeswoman said.

"Investigations continue but her death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage."
