A man has been charged with drink driving after a four car collision which injured a taxi driver in Norwich.

James Berryman, 21, of St Andrew's Close, Old Buckenham, was charged with five other offences including dangerous driving.

Officers tried to stop a VW Golf at about 01:45 GMT on Saturday.

The car crashed into a marked police car in Castle Meadows and hit three other vehicles on Prince of Wales Road, including two taxis.

Mr Berryman was also charged with using a vehicle without insurance, driving without a licence, failing to stop for police, aggravated vehicle taking and damaging property.

He was released on bail until he appears at Norwich Magistrates' Court on 17 March.

A 22-year-old man, who was also arrested, was released on conditional bail until 4 March while police continue their inquiries.

The taxi driver, who was sitting in his car at the time of the collision, suffered minor injuries.
