A Mercedes-Benz car once owned by former England footballer David Beckham was bought for £6,500 after it failed to meet its reserve at auction.

The 2001 S500L was described as a "high-specification example" by Anglia Car Auctions in Great Yarmouth.

David Beckham was the first owner of the vehicle and his details are on the original registration document.

But after it failed to sell during the auction, a private buyer made an offer which the seller accepted.

The car has done 117,000 miles from new.
