Work has started on a £6.7m road south of a Norfolk seaside town aimed at cutting congestion and opening up land for housing.

The single carriageway three-mile (1.8km) road will link Great Yarmouth's enterprise zone with the A12 and A143.

Developers hope to build 850 homes along with a school and shops.

The government is providing £4.7m funding with £1.4m from the developer and just over £580,000 from Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
