A man has denied killing an 83-year-old dog walker.

Alexander Palmer, 24, pleaded not guilty at Norwich Crown Court to the murder of Peter Wrighton, of Banham, Norfolk.

The body of the retired BT worker, who had been repeatedly stabbed in the neck and head, was found in woodland near East Harling.

Mr Palmer, of Freesia Way, Cringleford, spoke only to confirm his details and to enter his plea at Tuesday's hearing.

The defendant appeared by video link from London's Belmarsh prison.

His trial has been set for 12 February.
