Villagers in west Northamptonshire warned over smoke

Residents of two villages in west Northamptonshire have been asked to keep doors and windows closed because of smoke from a barn fire.

About 250 tonnes of straw is on fire in a barn at Springfield Farm between Lower Boddington and Aston le Walls.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the early hours and flames caused a large smoke cloud.

The fire service has brought it under control but two crews with a water bowser remain at the farm.

Smoke could still pose a problem for residents in the two nearby villages, a fire service spokeswoman said.
