New director to boost development in Northamptonshire

A development body's new director has been given the task of delivering jobs, homes and investment in Northampton, Daventry and Towcester.

Bill Allen, who formerly worked on the Bullring project in Birmingham, has joined the West Northamptonshire Development Corporation (WNDC).

He will be working as the director of implementation and delivery.

One of the projects he will work on is Northampton's Waterside and Castle Railway Station redevelopment.

He will also work with Northampton Borough Council on plans to extend the Grosvenor retail centre in Northampton.

'Huge asset'

Between 2004 and 2008, Mr Allen was the technical project director responsible for the delivery of Liverpool One.

The £1.2bn scheme was the largest mixed-use urban regeneration development in Europe.

WNDC's chief executive Peter Mawson said: "Bill will be a huge asset to West Northamptonshire as we continue to deliver a number of extensive and complex town centre developments."

Mr Allen added: "I'm looking forward to contributing to the area and supporting the delivery of some exciting and challenging developments."
