Work starts on A45 improvements in Northampton

A £5.3m project which aims to reduce congestion on a commuter route into Northampton begins on Monday.

The scheme focuses on the A45, particularly the Barnes Meadow roundabout, and aims to helps bus services and improve road safety.

The work includes creating extra lanes on the Barnes Meadow roundabout.

The Northamptonshire County Council project has been funded by the government through the Homes and Community Agency.

The work is due for completion in March 2011.
