Wellingborough council to cut 20 management posts

Twenty management posts are set to be lost as a council in Northamptonshire tries to save £1m.

Wellingborough Council held a special meeting on Monday evening to discuss ways of making the authority more efficient.

Deputy leader Paul Bell said it opted to restructure with two directors and four to five heads of service.

He said the exact number of job losses are unknown, but 20 posts would become redundant over the next year.

The council currently has 40 managers, and the changes would bring its management staffing levels in line with that of East Northamptonshire Council, Mr Bell said.

A consultation will be held over the plans.

Mr Bell said the council will protect frontline services.
