Man named in wheel-change crash on M1 near Daventry

A man who died when he was hit by a van while changing a tyre on his van on the M1 in Northamptonshire has been named as a 50-year-old from Nottinghamshire.

Euwan Haig, of Flawborough, near Newark, stopped on the southbound hard shoulder, near junction 16 in Daventry, on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said it appeared that he was in the process of changing a wheel on his Mercedes Vito.

Mr Haig was struck by a van and died at the scene.
