A warning has been issued about the dangers of walking onto frozen lakes in Northamptonshire after a search was started for two children.

Two boys had been seen at Drayton Reservoir on Tuesday afternoon, walking across the reservoir and stopping off to play on a boat.

A search by the police and the fire service found the boys safe and well.

Daventry District Council said youngsters might think it fun to walk on ice, but it is dangerous.

Two men died in the freezing Brightwell Lake near Ringstead in December 2009.

Paul Lichfield, 30, of Raunds, and Philip Surridge, 42, of Corby, were trying to rescue a dog.
