Fire damages 300-year-old house in Northamptonshire

A fire has severely damaged a 300-year-old thatched house in Northamptonshire.

About 30 firefighters were called to Hamilton Lane in Great Brington on Tuesday evening.

At its height seven engines and five specialist appliances were dealing with the incident after neighbours reported the roof and first floor on fire.

Two crews are expected to remain at the scene until Wednesday evening. There are also concerns about the structural stability of the building.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.
