Raiders feared hurt by acid spill at Daventry factory

Raiders attempting to steal metal containers from an industrial estate in Northamptonshire may have suffered chemical burns, police said.

The attempted theft was at Royal Oak Industrial Estate in Daventry between early Sunday and Monday morning.

Police said they were concerned for the welfare of anyone who was at the scene.

Offenders opened valves to empty containers and let out concentrated acid that would have splashed anyone nearby, causing chemical burns.

"If any member of the public believes that someone they know suffered chemical burns they are urged to contact the police.

"We also ask them to ensure that those who have been burnt seek medical treatment urgently," a police spokesman said.
