Organisers of the Formula 1 Grand Prix are expecting this year's event to draw one of the largest crowds ever.

The three-day event at Silverstone is expected to see a record crowd of more than 120,000 on race day, Sunday.

Silverstone managing director Richard Phillips said: "We expect this year's British Grand Prix to attract one of the biggest crowds in the event's history."

Race day tickets for the Northamptonshire circuit have sold out.

Work has been carried out to create a new pit, paddock and conference complex in time for this year's event.

Mr Phillips said: "I believe the new centre will help Silverstone's position as a premier racing destination.

"We have all the ingredients for this year's British Grand Prix to be one of the best and it will certainly be one of the biggest."
