Emergency calls up in Northamptonshire over Jubilee weekend

Ambulance crews in Northamptonshire saw a 25% increase in emergency call-outs over the Jubilee weekend.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said a large number were for people with respiratory problems and chest pains. Alcohol-related calls also increased.

The busiest day was Monday, with 2,387 enquiries, but extra staff were on duty to deal with the expected rise.

The service still hit its performance target for responding to life-threatening emergencies.
