Refurbished skate park in Desborough is forced to close

A newly refurbished skate park in Northamptonshire is to shut down following a decision by the council to sell the land it is built on.

Kettering Borough Council decided to sell the land at the Hawthorns in Desborough at a meeting on Wednesday.

The council said it would assist in relocating the park elsewhere in the town within the next year.

Belinda Humfrey, who chairs Desborough Youth Action Group which runs the skate park, said the plan was "madness".
