A woman found dead with the body of her husband at their Northamptonshire home had been shot four times, an inquest has heard.

Donald Knight, 78, and 77-year-old Margaret were found at their home in Loddington on 1 May.

An inquest opening in Northampton heard she had been shot twice in the head and twice in the abdomen.

Mr Knight, the retired chairman of a haulage firm, had a bullet wound to the head.

The couple were grandparents and loved being in each other's company, their family said at the time of their deaths.

The inquest was adjourned.
