A car driver has admitted killing a motorcyclist in a crash in Northampton.

Stuart Hutchings, 22, died a few days after being seriously injured in the crash with the Ford Fiesta in Eastern Avenue North on 18 May.

Craig Turner, 25, and David Barnes, 28, both of Daventry, were charged with murder and were due to go on trial.

At the start of the trial at Birmingham Crown Court on Tuesday Barnes admitted Mr Hutchings' manslaughter, meaning Mr Turner was cleared of murder.

Mr Turner had been a passenger in the car at the time.

Because the two men have been in custody for the past six months, two other counts brought against them - which related to the alleged possession of imitation firearms - were discontinued.

Barnes will be sentenced later.
