Street pastors looking to recruit in Nottingham

Thirty more street pastors are being recruited for training to work in Nottingham city centre this winter.

The Christian volunteers work on Saturday nights and the scheme is due to extend to Friday nights this autumn.

There are currently 36 street pastors with 30 being trained. They offer first aid, hand out water bottles and blankets and even help people get home.

Since March the volunteers have given more than 1,000 hours in voluntary work, and helped more than 600 people.

The volunteers also work with the police and community protection officers.
