Fatal Nottingham lorry crash pedestrian is identified

A 75-year-old pedestrian who died after being knocked down by a lorry in Nottingham has been named by police.

Roy Smith, from Aspley, suffered serious injuries in the incident which happened in Alfreton Road, near the Running Horse pub, on Tuesday morning.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham but died soon after.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Wednesday concluded Mr Smith died of multiple injuries.

Several roads were closed around the Canning Circus area and diversions were in place for several hours.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
