Charges in 'sham' wedding probe in Nottingham


Two people accused of arranging a sham wedding in Nottingham have been charged with immigration offences.

Falana McKenzie, 30, of Trinidad and Tobago, and Jorge Mouchino, a 33-year-old Portuguese man, were arrested at the Shakespeare Street register office.

The arrests took place on Saturday. Ms McKenzie has been charged with seeking leave to remain in the UK by deception.

Mr Mouchino was charged with assisting unlawful presence in an EU member state.

They were due to appear before Nottingham magistrates on Monday.

A 36-year-old Nigerian man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting unlawful presence in an EU member state before being bailed for five weeks.

The wedding was due to take place at 1000 BST on Saturday but was stopped by the UK Border Agency.
