Four people have been rescued in two separate fires involving wheelie bins in the same part of Nottingham.

Fire crews were called to Spruce Gardens and Aspen Road in Snapewood between 0200 and 0230 BST on Saturday.

Three people were rescued from a property in Aspen Road and one person was led to safety following the incident in Spruce Gardens.

Householders have been warned by fire officers of the risk posed to their homes if wheelie bins are set alight.

Following the incidents, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue distributed leaflets in the area giving safety advice.

Watch manager Stuart Ruckledge, from Stockhill station, said: "People need to keep wheelie bins away from the house and secured within a locked gate and remain vigilant."
