Ceiling-collapse college in Mansfield to remain closed
A Nottinghamshire college will remain closed for several days after a classroom ceiling collapsed causing minor injuries to two students.
The Derby Road campus of West Nottinghamshire College, in Mansfield, is due to reopen on 15 September.
Plasterboard tiles in a second-floor classroom hit two students on 9 September causing minor cuts.
Remedial works will be carried out to all ceilings in the tower block and a small number of other areas.
All staff based at Derby Road are expected to return to work on 14 September.
Deputy principal Andrew Martin said: "We apologise to our students and staff for any disruption this has caused. However, we're unwilling to take any risks when it comes to their safety."
The college's nine other sites will remain open as normal.
A freshers' fair for new students due to take place at the Derby Road campus on 14 September has been postponed until further notice.
