Community hub library in Worksop to open

An £8.4m library with state-of-the-art community facilities is to open its doors to the public in Nottinghamshire.

Worksop Library is intended to be a focal point for the town, with it also providing county council services and a registrar's office.

Officials said they hoped some 1,000 people would use the building each day, with a 20% rise in library use.

The project was known as the Chub but its name changed when the Conservatives took control of the council.

The library, which was previously located in a listed building next door, features free wi-fi and computers, a café, meeting rooms to hire, a children's library with play equipment and a young people's library with a games console.

Worksop Library will also be the first in the county to pilot Sunday opening.

It will open for use on Monday with an official event being held in the spring.
